Backstory
Boyle was born in Scotland next to a seaside town called Largs on the west coast. She grew up in Kelburn Castle on Kelburn Country Estate which has been a constant fuel for her imagination. Before moving to London to work in an architects office, Boyle co-directed, a one-off, original Arts project called, 'The Graffiti Project', which took place in May 2007; The internationally renowned Artists urged Boyle to become a professional artist, which she did in early 2010.

Boyle excelled at art in school, winning many awards while being encouraged to further her artistic abilities. She chose to study Interior Architecture at The University of Wales Institute Cardiff. She enjoyed many elements of Interior Architecture but she rarely got to physically create. The interiors she designed were always based around contrasting materials & textures; Themes which are fundamental within her artwork today. She designed a film house; an art gallery and an art and design library, however she knew inherently that she wanted to be creating art rather than designing spaces that house it.

She went on to do a Masters in Interior Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. Whilst there she became envious of the students who were covered in paint, working in workshops and freer to express themselves. She was getting frustrated with hypothetical projects and longed to make pieces that were tangible.

After she presented her final masters project, the examiners asked her where and what she was going to do next. She stated, ‘I'm going to stay in Scotland and become an artist’. She got side tracked and co-directed an internationally successful arts project, felt a surge of hubris and went to London with high expectations. She worked within an architects practice for 2 years, but knew intrinsically it was not right. Fortunately for Boyle, due to the financial crash of 2008, she was made redundant and had to reassess her priorities. Working in bars at night and painting in her living room by day she was finally on the right path despite the challenges of her new way of life. In January 2010 she debuted her artwork in a solo show in London, Mayfair, titled, ‘Memories, Dreams, Reflections’, which is the title of psychoanalyst, Carl Jung’s Autobiography. Jung’s ideas about the significance of myths, dreams and the collective unconscious to the health of ones psyche is a reoccurring theme which underpins Boyles work. Boyle’s work is emotional, energetic and charged with a universal spirit of life’s eternal joy and suffering.

Currently, Boyle is trying to keep creatively engaged, with limited time in the studio and bringing up two young and energetic boys. Of all the experiences in her life, she states, ‘this is definitely one of the most challenging’.
